Hello Primals!
Top of the 6th. Bases loaded. One out.
We’re down 9–6 in my 11-year-old’s travel baseball game last weekend.
My son steps up to the plate. The count hits 3–2. I’m on the edge of the bleacher, heart pounding.
The pitch comes in—he swings—and drives a fly ball just past the right fielder. A stand-up double. Three RBIs. Game tied.
It’s a moment I’ll never forget.
But behind that highlight? A full day at the field. These tournaments can run sunrise to sunset—sometimes three games back-to-back. And what most people don’t realize is how critical hydration becomes over the course of those long, hot days.
That’s why I always add LMNT electrolyte mix to my son’s water during tournaments. I’ve seen firsthand how it helps him stay focused, energized, and ready for those big moments. And it’s not just for athletes.

Why You Should Be Adding Salt to Your Water
Most people have been told to fear salt. But if you’re living a primal lifestyle—training hard, sweating daily, eating clean, or going low-carb—you probably need more of it.
Here’s why:
Sodium isn’t just about taste—it plays a vital role in hydration, energy production, and nutrient absorption at the cellular level.
Think of your cells like tiny gated communities. Nutrients like glucose (sugar), amino acids (from protein), and other electrolytes (like potassium and magnesium) need permission to enter. Sodium acts like the key to open those gates.
Here’s how it works:
Your body uses something called the sodium-potassium pump, which is built into every cell membrane. This pump uses sodium on the outside of the cell and potassium on the inside to create an electrical gradient—like a tiny battery. That electrical charge allows important nutrients to be pulled into the cell where they can actually be used for energy, repair, and function.
Without enough sodium, that pump doesn’t work efficiently.
So even if you’re drinking plenty of water or eating nutritious food, those nutrients can’t get inside the cells. They just move through your system and get flushed out.
In short: you’re peeing away your nutrition.
The Primal Takeaway
Your body isn’t just craving water.
It’s craving electrolyte balance.
Salt smart. Hydrate better. Perform stronger!
Keep it primal,
